Iphone

I am happy to report I am now the owner of the iPhone in fact I am using it to write this post! I have downloaded free apps and purchased three i don’t recommend the ewe stash program it’s not as good as the knit buddy. Now I have no apps I’m interested in. I am excited to report I will be making a pair of socks using the magic loop technique, However it will not involve any fancy stitch pattern until I master my Rowan Calmer pea green socks.

On “Lac” Down

Entrelac that is…I decided that my moochi yarn given to me a couple of months back, by my sewing mom is destined to be my very first Entrelac Scarf pattern. I think that rainbow yarn would look just beautiful knit up in something that looks so complex. I was looking a a youtube video on how to do the technique, although in Spanish its a good way to see how its done, if you are a more visual person. But the KnittyOtter has posted a very nice pictorial on how the process goes check it out here.

Now That’s Progressive

DSC01214I got gauage on my Teva Durham sweater and wanted to show. I hate making  swatches, but after my lammy incident I swore I’d always make one.  I really like the way the pattern is knitting up in the Cleckheaton Tencel wool. I’ve already finished the front, and am now working on the back. I accidentally knit the front 18” long and BO on the wrong side. Everyone at knitting night loves the purl side. However, locating the rhinestone clasp has been a challage, should push comes to shove I will have to create something of my own.

Over The Top

Have you ever attempted the Magic Loop Method…ever wanted to knit complex stitch patterns…well I did! You see a long time ago I bought 2 skeins of Dale of Norway Baby Ull because I wanted to knit a pair of picot edge socks in the Rowan Calmer book….but I wanted to knit it Magic Loop! However, there came a time in the pattern where I needed to do a yo, and no matter how many times I redid the pattern, it just wasn’t turning out right. I just figured that it simply couldn’t be done!

However, tonight I found at otherwise my LYS has the super wonderful teacher who showed how to do YOs using the magic loop mehtod. Here’s a short clip, just in case anyone else may be feeling like it just CAN’T be done.

A Must Have

If you are the owner of a vintage sewing machine this is an absolute must! This book contains every vintage sewing machine attachment out there, I am the owner of a Singer 403A and wanted to buy a automatic zigzaager and also have a vintage buttonholer and had no unearthly idea how they worked…but this tells it ALL!

Teva durham

Well It’s time to begin and new knitting project don’t wanna loose my knitting mojo and am super excited to try out my new Zephyer interchangable set that Sue got me from knitpicks, I was so happy I almost cried I’ve been wanting a set for like EVER! So my first project on the new needles will be Handkerchief Top #11 from Teva Druham’s Loop D LoopVolume 4. I’m going to use Cleckheaton Tencel Wool in white, since I never got the required amount of balls to knit my knit1mag sweater. Saw this project and thought it’d be great to use up such a small amount of yarn.

However While over at  Joycevance Blog I feel in love with this Durham pattenrn it is just way too cute and would knit up quite fast in my opinion and I just love the big buttons!

Start To Finish

Hey Guys I finally finished my hat…its so freakin cute so I thought I post some in progress pics as well as the finished project for you all to enjoy. Now its time to work on another project, I think that it should be a matching colar to match the hat, with a big button!

Yarn: Cascade Lana Grande (1 ball)

Needles: US 13 Clover Bamboo

Comments: Pattern called for US 15, but the ribbing ended up being way too loose. Next time would do an extra row of increases that than the pattern called for in order to produce a more slouchy look. However, one could also knit ribbing on 13 and then switch to US 15 circular.

I finally got the correct needles necessary for the guage to make the Classic Elite cover hat from their autum book 1. I’m using 2 balls of Cascade lana Grande as my substitute for this project and US 13 clover 16” circulars.  The 15’s made the ribbing around my head too loose caused slippage.

In the Spring/Summer 2009 Issue of Knit 1 there was a cream colored sweater made of Premier with beading. However, I did not want to spend any where from $50-60 dollars for this dk weight so I went searching for a substitute.  However, I didn’t realize that I had 4 balls of Cleckheaton Tencel Wool 2050 (White) which is a dk wieght. However, in order to make the sweater I needed 7 skeins, and this yarn has been discontinued EVERYWHERE…luckily someone on Ravelry had skeins to send me in exchange I’m sending her some beaded stitch markers. I’m so excited! What a lifesaver!

Restoration

This weekend I will hopefully finish and post the photos on how to restore a vintage sewing machine. I revised my method a bit to include new products. I can’t wait for my machine to look like new again.
