Well so much has been going on these past couple of weeks, thus I took a break from anything and all things crafty! I graduated with a B.S in biology on May 2nd…but am still taking a physics class that will end next month (praise the Lord). I am also in the process of looking for a job and have a couple of interviews lined up. So with the extra time on my hands during the week I’d like to get some sewing done.
I have been wanting a maxxi dress for a long time now, and I don’t care if people say that’s not the look for the summer I still want to make one. I want to make one that’s these cute silver sandals I found a TJ MAXX. Speaking of sewing did you know that burdastyle has launched Sewing Clubs, I can’t wait to attend a metting at the one in my local area!! I really think that being around others who sew will be lots of fun and a great motivation for me. Find the club near you click here
I saw that Joanns had simplicity pattern 2 for$5, but I wanted about 5 of them and did not want to spend that kind of money when they usually go on sale for 99 cents. I’m also dying to order the Complete Serger Essentials book so I can begin learning how to construct beautiful seam finishes. So I decided that if I land my job next week I’m going to purchase the patterns and book. I’d also like to get my hands on a copy of the Art of fashion Draping and a newer edition of the guide to fashion sewing. Those two will have to be bought at a later date though.
In other news…from my graduation money I have enough money to ship my car to PA, but I still needs funds to pay for the smart ship move, and a semester’s worth of rent. I’d also like to have some what of an emergency fund. Also due to the fact that I don’t want to spend money on purchasing furniture I’d really hope that freecycle can come through with couches and such that I can refinish/reupholster.
